Does the Truth Matter Anymore? Part 1

This is based off of Dr. Macarthurs book "Ashamed of the Gospel, when the church wants to be like the world"

WITHOUT "SOLA SCRIPTURA" (THE BIBLE ALONE), WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH?

Sola scriptura (Latin "by Scripture alone") is one of five important slogans of the Protestant Reformation in the 16th century. It meant that Scripture is the Church's only infallible rule for deciding issues of faith and practices that involve doctrines. The intention of the Reformation was to correct the Roman Catholic Church by appeal to the uniqueness of the Bible's authority, and to reject Romanist tradition as a source of original authority alongside the Bible or in addition to the Bible. This idea of the singular authority of Scripture is the motivation behind much of the Protestant effort to translate the Bible into the native vernacular. In comparison, Eastern Orthodoxy has been motivated by its incarnational theology to translate not only the Bible but also the prayers and liturgies of the church.

Dr. RC Sproul Faith Alone Part 1

The doctrine of justification was central in the Reformation. The Roman Church asserted that justification is by faith with the addition of works. The Reformers asserted that justification is by faith alone

The psychology of atheism - part 1

Answers to questions concerning the existence of God are continually demanded by atheists. Why is that? Is it that not all of the atheist's questions have been answered? Actually, they have all the answers they need, and they understand them. So if there is a God, then why are there atheists? In "The Psychology of Atheism," Dr. Sproul explains that it is not a lack of information that is keeping the atheist from believing, it is something else.

The Psychology of Atheism is a lecture from the lecture series 'Defending Your faith.'

William Lane Craig: Is God a Delusion?

William Lane Craig: Is God a Delusion? Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford October 2011

Richard Dawkins was invited by the Oxford student Christian Union to defend his book The God Delusion in public debate with William Lane Craig. The invitation remained open until the last minute. However, Dawkins refused the challenge and his chair remained empty. Craig then gave a lecture to a capacity audience on the weaknesses of the central arguments of the book and responded to a panel of academics. The event, which was chaired by atheist Prof. Peter Millican, was part of The Reasonable Faith Tour 2011 sponsored by UCCF, Damaris & Premier Christian Radio.

Dr. James White Review Roger Olsons Book "Against Calvinism"

"Roger Olson doesn't like to debate, and he doesn't like to defend his assertions, either, but that won't stop us from reviewing his book! A very troubling aspect of Olson's book: he admits that even if God revealed that He does exist, and act, as Calvinists say He does, *Olson would refuse to worship Him.* That's an amazing thing for a professed Christian to say. Here is our review."

This is an excerpt from monergism.com

Greg Koukl - Calvinism and Choice

Taken from our blog, Greg Koukl of Stand to Reason answers the question "As a Calvinist, how do you personally deal with God's free choice of choosing some for salvation and not others?" For more information, visit http://www.str.org.

Foolishness of Preaching the Cross

The apostle Paul tells us that it has pleased God to save those who believe through the foolishness of what we preach (1 Cor. 1:21). The Gospel is foolishness to a fallen world, and preaching it is foolishness as well. But the foolishness of God is wiser than men (1 Cor. 1:25). In this message, Dr. Lawson will remind us of the centrality of the Gospel to the true calling of the preacher.

Dr. John Piper

Dr. Piper in this sermon gives a message titled:

Our Deepest Prayer: Hallowed Be Your Name

Matthew 6:5-15

And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this:

The Doctrines of Grace

Grace is a word that we hear again and again in lives. Anyone who is affiliated with a church, whether orthodox apostate, or even the cults will tell you that you are saved by grace. But what exactly do people mean when they say “grace”? What it the biblical concept of grace and how does it work itself out in our lives? Which notion of grace are you operating under? The sixteenth century church rediscovered the biblical concept of grace, and perhaps nobody was able to articulate it better than John Calvin. In this message, Dr. Sinclair Ferguson explains John Calvin’s essential role in church history as a preacher and teacher of the biblical doctrine of grace.

Dr. RC Sproul: What is Reformed Theology?

Few evangelical Christians today understand Reformed theology. They know it has something to do with predestination, and they may have heard of “the five points.” But they can’t name these points, and they think no one believes most of them anymore. Dr. Sproul says there’s more to Reformed theology than these five points. Reformed theology reveals just how awesome the grace of God is.

Dr. John Macarthur On Limited Atonement

Great video of John Macarthur explaining the Calvinist doctrine of Limited atonement and explains how we should present our evangelism to the lost!

Limited Atonement

" Let there be no misunderstanding at this point. The Arminian limits the atonement as certainly as does the Calvinist. The Calvinist limits the extent of it in that he says it does not apply to all persons (although as has already been shown, he believes that it is efficacious for the salvation of the large proportion of the human race); while the Arminian limits the power of it, for he says that in itself it does not actually save anybody. The Calvinist limits it quantitatively, but not qualitatively; the Arminian limits it qualitatively, but not quantitatively. For the Calvinist it is like a narrow bridge which goes all the way across the stream; for the Arminian it is like a great wide bridge which goes only half-way across...."

- Loraine Boettner
